Impregnated Sawn and Planed Timber - Recycling
Impregnated wood is 100% recyclable.
Pressure impregnated timber is a separately recyclable product. Old Impregnated wood which is no longer in use must not be burnt in household fireplaces. It must be taken timber stores' or waste management authority's Impregnated wood collection skips from where it is transported for energy recycling.
Impregnated wood waste generated in households
Impregnated wood waste generated in households can be brought free of charge to the collection points at waste management facilities and hardware stores. Hardware stores have a special green container where they collect impregnated timber according to following instructions:
- Only pressure Impregnated wood, C-salt impregnated or brown creosote impregnated wood is accepted in the skip
- It is forbidden to leave other waste in the skip
- Large metal parts and accessories must be removed from the wood
- The skip must be filled tightly
- For safety reasons wood is not be taken from the skip
Larger amounts of timber are transported directly to waste management facilities, where they will be redirected to Demolite’s recycling terminal in Tuulos.
Impregnated wood waste from industrial use (corporations and communities)
Coarse impregnated wood waste generated in industrial use, such as bridges, harbours and road construction, is to be delivered to Demolite’s recycling terminal in Tuulos or to waste management facilities.
Impregnated wood waste generated in industrial use will be accepted under following terms:
- Only Impregnated wood, C-salt impregnated or brown creosote impregnated wood is accepted
- Large metal and plastic parts and accessories must be removed from the wood
- Wood load is must not contain soil elements
- Corporations and communities are charged with a processing fee for the waste wood delivered to recycling depots
